What should you know about "RīBēJa MuTe"?
Riga Children and Youth Musical Theatre (RiBeJa MuTe) is supported by the Riga City Council. RiBeJa MuTe is a project based theater which serves for creation of musical theatrical projects for children and youth. In the creation and performance of the projects of this theatre children and young amateur artists collaborate with leading theatre and music professionals. Thus the creation of each of our works is a wonderful creative adventure for the young artists. For the audience it is always astonishing experience to see children and adult artists playing together.
Within 4 seasons of its existence the theatre has staged 8 new shows. There are about 40 performances of RiBeJa MuTe per season. The season lasts from September to May.
What is Project Theater?
Each show is made as a separate project with different participants, because the theater does not have a settled troupe.
Our performers are children and youth from music schools and amateur music groups who work together with the adult professionals – composers, poets, stage directors, actors, stage designers, costume designers and choreographers.
RiBeJa MuTe is also a stage for regional theatres (from Liepāja, Valmiera, Daugavpils) where they are welcome to perform their shows for children and youth.

How did we start?
On June 1st 2005 the theater-opening concert took place.
The title of the theatre "RīBēJa MuTe" is the abbreviation of Rīgas Bērnu un jauniešu muzikālais teātris (Riga Children and Youth Musical Theatre) and means The Rumbling Mouth in Latvian. The title and the logo was intended by Elmārs Pavlovičs who was then 12 years old and was taking animation classes at the Riga Children Culture center. The author of our audio jingle Jānis Ķirsis was 18 years of age and was a high school student back then.

Who directs the theater?
Management: general manager - Edīte Putniņa, public relations - Normunds Beļskis, marketing - Liene Paukšēna and Karīna Zelezneva, producers - Kristīne Lanska, Igo Zanders.
The Board of the RiBeJa MuTe helps to select the best creative ideas for future shows and advises the management regarding all different aspects of the operation of the theatre.
